FROM THE COUNCIL PRESIDENT

Council President Bruce Jones

The first few months of 2010 have seen our mission commitment move forward in a positive way. The response of the congregation (which has been paying close attention to our mission statement) has been exciting and challenging.

After many weeks of untimely rain, we finally planted a seven thousand square foot garden which will help feed those in need. I would recommend that everyone take a close look at what has been accomplished so far.

At a special meeting on June 20th of this year, two more highly important and community responsive agendas were passed. The first being a positive vote to proceed with the establishment of a pre-school as directed by Capron Lutheran Church. The second was a vote to establish a building committee to look into what will be needed by this congregation in the future.

As Pastor Carrie and I met a month or so ago, I asked her if she had ever been instructed in the art of church building.  She said no.  My answer was also no! However, as we looked into the possibilities of these challenges, we were surprised to learn once again that we have the talent and expertise to move this congregation forward.

Many thanks to those individuals who have put so much time and effort into compiling the research that will indeed make these things happen.

Please pray for the success of these programs.

Peace to you all,

Bruce Jones,  Council President
